The movie I watched last night
When I said to my friend that I have watched almost every Spielberg's movie, he asked me if i had watched 'Empire of the Sun', which he obviously thought I might have, I was humbled to say I had not. So today when I saw the copy of 'Empire of the Sun' lying in the library I couldn't believe my eyes. I had to rent it immediately and watch it. And just like any other Spielberg's, I was thoroughly engaged by it. The movie starring John Malkovich and introducing young Christian Bale where he received special citation for Outstanding Juvenile Performance is a warm and heartful story of a young briton boy named Jim in Japanese takeover of Shanghai during World War 2, through whose eyes we see the harshness and brutality of the war and his youthful spirit for those childhood longing.Adapted from the book by J.G Ballard, the movie is Spielberg's finest. Christian Bale (Prestige, Batman Begins, Psycho) is amazing as Jim. The movie starts with a shot of debris in the water and also ends with a shot of a debris and Jim's castaway case. Now finally I can make the list: 1) ET 2) Indiana Jones 12&3, 3)Saving Private Ryan 4) Schindler's List 5) Jurassic Park & The Lost World: Jurassic Park 6) Artificial Intelligence 7) The Terminal 8) Catch me If you can 9) Munich 10) War of the World 11) Jaws 12) Minority Report
Next in the list: Amblin, Amistad, Always, Close encounter of the third kind, Duel, Sugarland Express, The color purple, Hook http://www.spielbergfilms.com/
